Dawn Payne

Registered Physical Therapist

  • Dawn graduated from the University of Alberta in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Shortly after graduation, she had the opportunity to work in clinics throughout New Zealand and Australia as well as across western Canada. These experiences provided exposure to many different treatment perspectives and techniques which have served her well in taking care of her clients.
  • In 2002, Dawn was one of the first Physiotherapists in Northern Alberta to be trained in GunnIMS. Prior to this training, she took extensive education in Manual Therapy (hands on treatment) though the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She was later awarded an Honorary Fellowship through iSTOP (Institute for the Study and Treatment of Pain).
  • As a competitive athlete in Equestrian Show Jumping, Mountain Biking and Running, Dawn has had her fair share of injuries. Understanding first-hand how frustrating it can be to have an injury, has propelled her to create a unique assessment and treatment approach that is truly specific to each client.
  • In addition to treating recreational and international level athletes; Dawn developed an interest in helping clients with persistent neck and back pain. During her own trials and tribulations returning to activity and continuing her career after breaking her back and pelvis (not to mention a few neck injuries too), she created a team of professionals who could not only help her, but also help her clients when more than one medical professional is needed. Dawn’s treatment philosophy is one of collaboration and team work, which also includes you!
  • Although Dawn took a break from Show Jumping for several years, horses have always been in her blood. She has once again dusted off her boots and has a reinvigorated passion for riding. She is very happy to be back in the saddle and enjoying her furry friends.
  • Now, let’s get you moving and back to what you love!
